I’m so excited to give you guys this little teaser for my new line, Machine. Exciting things are in the works. Can’t wait to share more!
I’m so excited to announce the launch of my first collection! Designs from Machine will be walking the runway on April 12th here in Portland. Join us for an eventing of fashion as seven new designers show their debut collections to the Portland community including the city’s premier retailers, buyers, and media.
All proceeds from the event support Portland Sewing’s Fashion Design Scholarship for Teens. The scholarship prepares Portland-area high school juniors and seniors for a career in the fashion industry.
Aside from all my school work and trying to design/construct my first collection, I’ve also been interning over the past few weeks at one of my favorite apparel brands. Bridge & Burn was the first “Portland” brand I was exposed to when I moved here four years ago. Since then, they’ve always been on my fashion radar. When the chance came up to help out as an intern, I couldn’t pass it up.
So far I’ve learned a lot about samples, costing, and the art of measuring specs. It has been a blast and it’s a great reminder of my long term goals. It blows my mind sometimes when I realize this little dream of mine is actually starting to come true.
It has begun! I’m in the process of making patterns for my new line, Machine, that will launch in April. Tonight I did fittings with my fit model and it went so smoothly. The patternmaking process has been the scariest unknown for me in this whole process, but so far it has been pretty great. We’ll see how things progress over the next few weeks.
The last big hurdle is finding the right fabrics. I have a few different selections for samples, but I’m missing some key pieces. I just hope I can find something that I love that is magically also in my budget. Ha…
I’m excited to announce my new line, Machine, which will be officially launching in April. Machine is a collection of women’s streetwear designed with a modern, urban influence.

Things are starting to get real, y’all. Fashion Forward is kicking into hyper drive on January 1st. I’ve had some time to look back at the last semester of classes and overall I was really happy with them. A few ups and downs, but there were some real gems in there too.
I saw the new Hunger Games: Catching Fire movie this weekend (luckily, before the hoards of teenage girls invaded the theaters). Overall, the movie was decent. Was it spectacular/earth-shattering/Oscar-worthy? Of course not, but it was fun. I left the theater admitting that I was more enthralled with the costumes than I was with the movie. Well, it looks like I’m not the only one.
